Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how FQ-AdBlocker ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our Chrome extension.

Summary: We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your data to external servers. All blocking and filtering happens locally on your device.

1. Data Collection

FQ-AdBlocker does not collect any personal data.

The extension reads the content of web pages you visit solely to apply cosmetic filtering — hiding ad containers, cookie consent banners, and other unwanted elements. This processing is performed entirely within your browser on your device.

Network blocking is handled by Chrome's Declarative Net Request API using static rule sets. The extension does not intercept, read, or store your network traffic.

  • We do not send any data to external servers.
  • We do not track your browsing history.
  • We do not collect analytics or telemetry.
  • We do not use cookies.

2. Local Storage

We use your browser's extension storage (chrome.storage.sync) solely to save user preferences, such as:

  • Whether blocking is globally enabled or disabled
  • Hide-containers display preference
  • Cookie consent and video ad blocking toggles
  • Allowlisted domains and wildcard patterns
  • Custom CSS selectors, block domains, and video ad domains

These settings are stored locally on your device and synced across your Chrome profile via Chrome's built-in sync mechanism. We do not have access to this data.

3. Permissions

FQ-AdBlocker requests the following Chrome permissions:

  • declarativeNetRequest / declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess: Used to block network requests to ad and tracking domains using static rule sets.
  • declarativeNetRequestFeedback: Used to count how many requests were blocked, displayed in the popup. No request data is stored or transmitted.
  • storage: Used to persist your settings locally.
  • tabs: Used to detect the current site for per-site allowlisting in the popup.
  • host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required for the content script to apply cosmetic filtering on all websites.

No permission is used to collect or transmit your personal information.

4. Third-Party Services

FQ-AdBlocker does not load any external scripts, analytics, or CDN resources. All code runs locally from the extension bundle.

5. Website

The FQ-AdBlocker website is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages. It does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking scripts.

6. Your Rights

Since FQ-AdBlocker does not collect or store personal data, there is no personal data to access, modify, or delete. If you have questions, you may contact us using the information below.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
